On July 14th 1859, the first known visitor remarked that the sparkling calcite formations resembled diamonds, thus the name for the cave was born. Except for short periods during the Civil War, the cave has been shown as an attraction for 160 years. A guided tour of Mammoth Onyx Cave is included in the entry ticket price of Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo. The Cave was discovered in 1799 and opened for public tours in 1922. Visitors take a 45 minute journey to explore the three dimensional world of a living cave. I-65, Exit 58

Onyx Cave was discovered in 1971 as a parking lot was being constructed for Guntown Mountain Amusement Park. The cave opened for tours in May of 1973. Onyx Cave is a wet cave that offers beautiful cave coral, a wall of cave bacon, and a 40 foot column. Cave tours are 30 minutes long and can be enjoyed by people of all ages. In addition to the cave tour, you'll find an awesome variety of rocks, minerals, fossils, and books at the Onyx Cave Rock Shop.

Located at KY Action Park, Jesse James Riding Stables, Outlaw Cave is a 30-minute non-strenuous cave tour. This beautiful cave boasts natural formations and amazing large columns formed by nature from ceiling to floor. Come to Outlaw cave and enjoy a short and easy cave tour. This tour is perfect for anyone who does not want to do a lot of walking or stairs and is wheelchair accessible.

Visit us and stroll along the historic river walk which leads you to one of the largest cave entrances east of the Mississippi River. Lost River Cave offers a delightful escape into Kentucky’s Cave Country with hiking trails through the lush wooded valley, the seasonal butterfly habitat, a gem mining sluice and a charming gift shop. Pets can not be accommodated on boat tour.
